The purpose of a formal UK dual credit program exists to give high school students who are ready for the rigor of research-university coursework a real academic challenge, with credit that counts twice.
Dual credit at UK runs through formal partnerships between the university and individual high schools and school districts. Leaders at both your high school and the university must establish and approve that partnership before you can enroll in a UK dual credit course. Once it's in place, you earn both high school and college credit for the same course.
UK has participated in the Kentucky Dual Credit Scholarship Program since spring 2017. The Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) administers the program and can tell you whether you qualify.
