We are excited that you are considering applying to UK as a dual credit student! There are many benefits to taking dual credit courses while you are in high school including:
- reducing your potential time to degree,
- reducing the overall cost of the degree, and
- building confidence as a college-going student.
Research shows that successfully completing dual credit courses in high school make students more likely than their peers without dual credit to enroll and graduate from college.
Who Can Apply
High school juniors and seniors with at least a 2.5 high school GPA at participating high schools in Kentucky are eligible to apply with guidance counselor permission. The initial determination of eligibility to apply is with the high school personnel, typically a high school guidance counselor. Many factors contribute to high school partner decisions on the scope and scale of UK offerings. Students are encouraged to meet with their local guidance counselor or other high school personnel to express interest in the program and learn more about the local approach.
